50-3.1 Appointments in Intake<br />

Effective September 25, 2007, all <strong>CalWORKs</strong> intakes are scheduled through the<br />

CalWIN appointments subsystem.<br />

I. Walk-In Applicants<br />

A. If possible, applicants will be scheduled for the same day they come in to<br />

apply.<br />

1. The cut-<strong>of</strong>f time is 11 a.m. for scheduling at 1:15 p.m., if available,<br />

and 3 p.m. for the next day's 8:15 a.m. timeslot.<br />

2. Applicants who do not show for their scheduled appointments will<br />

be assigned on a separate no-show rotation. The reassigned worker<br />

(?)needs to deny <strong>CalWORKs</strong> the same day and send a change <strong>of</strong><br />

worker letter to the client. The reassigned worker needs to cancel the<br />

failed appointment the same day.<br />

a. For the Food Stamps program, a NOMI must be issued. Food<br />

Stamps and Medi-Cal will remain in "pending" status.<br />

b. Assigned no-show workers will contact the no-show client by<br />

phone the same day to reschedule the appointment for the<br />

client. A case comment in CalWIN has to reflect the effort by the<br />

worker to contact the client by phone and the response by the<br />

client or the lack there<strong>of</strong>.<br />
