Fair Trade CommitteeThe Fair Trade Committee was founded during the Spring term and itsfirst members were Gruffudd Roberts, Olivia Browne, Laura Coates andRory Gollop-Thomas from Flwyddyn 5. They went with Mr Llewelyn tothe Co-operative shop in Roath to discuss Fair Trade produce with themanager and they were given Fair Trade tea and coffee to use in thecoffee morning organised by the committee. In response to their letterssent to local businesses asking for donations for the event they alsoreceived free milk from Tesco. A very successful coffee morning washeld using Fair Trade produce and £183.20 was raised towards theBobath charity. The new 2010/2011 committee will be set up soon.School EisteddfodAnother successful Eisteddfod was held again this year and it was apleasure to see the chairing of the bard ceremony and to see Rhodri Lewissitting in the school’s Eisteddfod chair having won the poetry competitionfor composing a poem about pirates.WAG Funded Free Breakfast SchemeThe free breakfast scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly started afterthe Autumn half term 2010 under the guidance of Kris Phelps on behalfof the Governing Body. The staff consists of many of the school’s kitchencleaning and lunchtime staff and has proved to be very popular. Thepurpose of the scheme is to supply breakfast for those who would notreceive some otherwise.Visits and VisitorsWe had various visitors during the past year including Twm Morys theWelsh Children’s Bard, the fire brigade, community police, theatrecompanies and a singer from Cornwall to name but a few. Many visitswere organised as well including Greenmeadow Farm, Cefn Mabli Farm,Bristol Zoo, Sain Ffagan, the Asssembly, Techniquest, Cardiff Bay,Imperial War Museum in London, Llangrannog, Big Pit in Blaenafonand Maes y Fron Farm (Call of the Wild) in Abercraf.
