A challenge for us this year willbe to improve the % achieving Level 2+ in writing and we have adesignated Learning Support Assistant in Year 2 who will use variousinterventions this year to support and develop pupil’s writing and literacy.Mathematics – The number of pupils achieving Level 2+ was slightlyhigher than the National average. The school’s % in Using and ApplyingMathematics was 70.7% compared with 81.4% nationally. As part of ourschool improvement plan we aim to raise standards in this aspect this yearby monitoring and providing appropriate training e.g. insets and courses.A whole staff inset on Using and Applying Mathematics (‘Every Day is aProblem Solving Day’) was held at the school on the Inset day onOctober 1 st 2010 and led by Linda Newman the county’s Mathematicsadviser.Science – The school’s results compare favourably with the Nationalresults.Core Subject Indicator – The core subject indicator shows the school at84.5% which is above the National average of 81.1%.KEY STAGE 2Welsh First Language – 86.7% of pupils achieved Level 4+ compared to79.9% Nationally.English – 88.9% of pupils achieved Level 4+ compared to 81.0%Nationally.
