3.2 automatic multi couplers ONinjection moulding machinesZwei LösungsmöglichkeitenFor applications of automatic multi couplers on injectionmoulding industry there are in principle two solutions.Vertical loadingHorizontal loadingFor vertical loading of the machine the mould will arrive withan overhead crane into the machine. This means that themulti coupler in most cases will be mounted on top of themachine or in some cases below the mould at the bottomof the machine. For storage of the moulds and also to havean easier access to the multi couplers on the machine, it isin most cases preferred to have the multi couplers on top.For horizontal loading of the machine the mould will be rolled in bymeans of a mould change table or mould change car. The multicouplers are then mounted on the side of the machine as well ason the side of the moulds.In both cases the machine side multi coupler is mounted on a fixedlocation and the multi coupler plate is moved by one or two hydraulicor pneumatic cylinders.This indicates that the distance of the center of the machine towardsthe multi coupler is always the same and standard mould mountedmulti couplers plates are being used.EAS applies the self locking CQF/M and KQF/M mono couplers ontheir multi coupler plates. These couplers have the advantage that eachcoupler is firmly connected to the counter part, which avoids bendingof the multi coupler plates and leakage of the mono couplers.Furthermore no additional locking cylinders are required to holdthe two multi coupler plates together with this proven simple concept.Another advantage is that if the moulds are outside the machine onecan always connect each mono coupler for testing or cleaning purposes.Important fact is that the mono couplers mounted in the multi couplersfor water and hydraulics needs to be free of residential pressure whenconnected and disconnected.
