At the end of the 20 th century, a number of infectious diseases attracted the attention
of medical and health policy interests. This is primarily due to the fact these
diseases frequently have a chronic course. In Europe and North America, but also in
many other areas of the world, these chronic diseases are caused by the following
pathogens: Borrelia burgdorferi, Bartonella henselae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae,
Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Yersinia enterocolitica. In
North America, HGA (Human Granulocytic Anaplasma) and Babesias are also
