Afternoon Tea for M<strong>in</strong>isters of Communion to the SickOn 26 June, the Feast of the Bodyand Blood of Christ, St ThomasAqu<strong>in</strong>as Parish, Spr<strong>in</strong>gwood,held an afternoon tea forM<strong>in</strong>isters of Communion to theSick. It was attended by ParishPriest, Fr Peter Connelly, Fr TedTyler recently appo<strong>in</strong>ted ParishPriest of Katoomba, and about20 parishioners who regularlytake Communion to the sick.Communion is given weekly atthree nurs<strong>in</strong>g Homes (Endeavour,Buckland and Unit<strong>in</strong>g Care) andto parishioners <strong>in</strong> their own homes who cannot attend Mass. The afternoon provideda great opportunity to say thank you to the wonderful work done by these volunteers.Their m<strong>in</strong>istry is <strong>in</strong>valuable and is greatly appreciated by the parishioners they visit.Parish ladies group celebrates 25 th AnniversaryRecently, members of the Quakers Hill/Schofields Parish Ladies Group celebrated their25 th Anniversary. Some of the found<strong>in</strong>g members are still <strong>in</strong> the group along withnewer members, mak<strong>in</strong>g some 20 members. The Deputy Mayor of Blacktown, KathieColl<strong>in</strong>s, was <strong>in</strong> attendance as were some past members. One of the found<strong>in</strong>g membersspoke about the <strong>in</strong>ception of the group and the important role it has played <strong>in</strong> thelife of the parish. Parish Priest Fr Ian McG<strong>in</strong>nity was the celebrant on the day.
