EMERGENCIES-PERSONALThe school and administration should be notified immediately of any illness, accident, or hospitalizationaffecting any student.Student messages or telephone calls of an emergency nature received at the school will normally be deliveredto the student during class breaks. In such cases, the caller should give the school the student’s class scheduleso he/she can be more readily located.The school will not accept student telephone calls, messages and letters of a personal nature. Telephone calls,messages, etc., of a personal nature must be directed to the student’s home or cell phone. Office phones arenot to be used for personal calls.Emergency doors are to be used only for emergencies.FACULTY WORK AREASStudents are not permitted in the faculty office area or staff lounge unless an instructor escorts them.FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT ANNUAL NOTIFICATIONThe Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) affords students certain rights with respect totheir education records. These rights include:1. The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days of the day theschool receives a written request for access.Students should submit to the school Director a written request that identifies the record(s) the studentwishes to inspect. A school official will make arrangements for access and notify the student of thetime and place where the records may be inspected.2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the student believesare inaccurate, misleading or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights underFERPA.A student may request the school to amend an education record the student believes is inaccurate ormisleading. The student must write to the school Director, clearly identify the part of the educationrecord the student wants changed and specify why the education record is inaccurate, misleading orotherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights under FERPA.If the school decides not to amend the education record as requested by the student, the school willnotify the student of the decision and advise the student of his or her right to a hearing regarding thestudent’s request for amendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will beprovided to the student when the student is notified by the school of his or her right to a hearing.3. The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in thestudent’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without thestudent’s consent.One exception permits the school to disclose personally identifiable information contained in thestudent’s education records without the student’s consent to school officials with legitimate25
