vi• Configure for CE Marking Conformance:- For compliance to CE Marking, perform installation and cable routing according tothe description on compliance to CE Marking in the “Hardware Manual” (IM34M06C11-01E).• Keep spare parts on hand:- We recommend that you stock up on maintenance parts, including spare modules,in advance.- Preventive maintenance (replacement of the module) is required for using themodule beyond 10 years.• Discharge static electricity before touching the system:- Because static charge can accumulate in dry conditions, first touch grounded metal todischarge any static electricity before touching the system.• Wipe off dirt with a soft cloth:- Gently wipe off dirt on the product's surfaces with a soft cloth.- If you soak the cloth in water or a neutral detergent, tightly wring it out before wipingthe product. Letting water enter the module interior can cause malfunctions.- Do not use volatile solvents such as benzine or paint thinner or chemicals forcleaning, as they may cause deformity, discoloration, or malfunctioning.• Avoid storing the FA-M3 controller in places with high temperature orhumidity:- Since the CPU module has a built-in battery, avoid storage in places with hightemperature or humidity.- Since the service life of the battery is drastically reduced by exposure to hightemperatures, take special care (storage surrounding air temperature should befrom -20°C to 75°C).- There is a built-in lithium battery in a CPU module which serves as backup powersupply for programs, device information and configuration information.The service life of this battery is more than 10 years in standby mode at roomtemperature. Take note that the service life of the battery may be shortened wheninstalled or stored at locations of extreme low or high temperatures. Therefore, werecommend that modules with built-in batteries be stored at room temperature.• Always turn off the power before installing or removing modules:- Failing to turn off the power supply when installing or removing modules, may resultin damage.• Do not touch components in the module:- In some modules you can remove the right-side cover and install ROM packs orchange switch settings. While doing this, do not touch any components on theprinted-circuit board, otherwise components may be damaged and modules may failto work.• Do not use unused terminals:- Do not connect wires to unused terminals on a terminal block or in a connector.Doing so may adversely affect the functions of the module.• Use the following power source:IM 34M06C11-01E 23th Edition : Oct. 01, 2013-00
- Use only F3PUxx-xx as the power supply module.- If using this product as a UL-approved product, for the external power supply, use alimited voltage / current circuit power source or a Class 2 power source.• Refer to the user’s manual before connecting wires:- Refer to the hardware user’s manual or the applicable user’s manual for theexternal wiring drawing.- Refer to “A3.6.5 Connecting Output Devices” in the hardware user’s manual beforeconnecting the wiring for the output signal.- Refer to “A3.5.4 Grounding Procedure” in the hardware user’s manual for attachingthe grounding wiring.viiIM 34M06C11-01E 23th Edition : Oct. 01, 2013-00
