VISCOAT ® Casings and Film from VISKASE ® are a unique combination of a multi-layer plastic with
an inner paper layer treated specifically to impart natural colors or smoke to the finished products.
They provide all the benefits of a barrier casing without limiting product quality or taste.

VISCOAT ® is now available as a seamed casing or a flat film; VISCOAT ® F
Size Range: VISCOAT ® Casing: Flat width 60 - 310 mm.
VISCOAT ® F: Flat width available to accommodate all sizes of forming shoulders.
Finish Formats: Casings are available as shirred sticks or on reels. Film is available on reels.
Natural Colors / Flavors: VISCOAT ® Products can be impregnated with natural colors or flavors
to impart a unique finished appearance, taste or both to processed meats.
– VISCOAT ® SMOKE MASTER ® is a pre-moisturized VISCOAT ® product treated with
natural liquid smoke that will transfer smoke flavor and color to the surface of the stuffed
item. VISCOAT ® SMOKE MASTER ® products are available in low to strong smoke flavors
as well as light to dark transfer colors.
– VISCOAT ® COLOR MASTER is a pre-moisturized VISCOAT ® product that imparts a
caramel color to the surface of the stuffed item. Caramel colors range from golden to
dark brown.

Product Usage
SOAKING: VISCOAT ® products do not require
soaking prior to use. All products which are
pre-treated with natural colors and flavors should
never be soaked in water prior to stuffing.
STUFFING / CLIPPING: It is important to select the
proper clip size and clipping pressure to assure a
tight fit without causing damage to the product.
Storage & Handling
Store VISCOAT ® products in a cool, dry place avoiding proximity to heat sources as well as hot or
freezing storage areas. Pre-moisturized products should be stored at temperatures between 55°
to 75° F (12° - 24° C) and should remain sealed in original containers until ready for use. Unused
products should be kept in airtight bags and replaced in the original carton to maintain proper
moisture content. Keep stock current by using the oldest stock first. To avoid possible damage, it
is imperative that knives, sharp instruments and hooks not be used to open packaging.
