Dear Parents,Ipswich Grammar School is offering students from Years 10 to 12 the opportunity to participate in a career profiling session onMonday, 22 July.The session will run from Period 1 to Period 5. Following this, an individual profile will be prepared for each student by Dr MarianKratzing, a Careers Psychologist from a specialist career consultancy service called Career Avenues. In addition to a comprehensivereport, students will be able to download a Career Development Workbook to assist them to further explore career ideas. This can beused as part of career counselling sessions and subject selection interviews at school.The cost per student is $95. The comparative cost of a full individual career assessment in Brisbane is about $550-$580. Career Avenueshas developed a unique profiling system which they have provided to independent schools in Brisbane and Sydney for many years. Formore information, visit www.careeravenues.com.auThe assessment session will be a group session lasting about four hours, during which students will complete several questionnairesand tests. These include:An Aptitude Profile covering six areas: Non-verbal, Verbal, Numerical, Attention to Detail, Physical Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning.This section is very important to help each student establish where their strengths lie.Occupational Interest Profile: Using an Australian interest inventory to identify preferred vocational roles.Personal Style Profile: The personal style will give very useful information about the kind of work focus and work environment whichwill most likely suit the student.Students’ profile reports will detail the outcomes of each of the tests and questionnaires completed in the assessment and willconclude with a list of career ideas for each student to explore.
