That The Trustees of Te Kauwhanganui formally endorse the Maintenance PlansWhy formal endorsement of the Maintenance Plan?To succeed the Maintenance Plan requires the formal endorsement of The Trustees.Endorsement assumes support of the Kaitiaki to undertake the work.It requires The Trustees to formally delegate responsibilities to identified Kaitiaki to carry out thetasks and to provide a pūtea to do those tasksAnnual ReviewTo succeed the Maintenance Plan needs to reviewed and updated annually by the Kaitiaki andissues presented to the Trustees for discussion at the Annual General Meeting. The reportingshould include an outline of the upcoming schedule of activities including pūtea and resourcesrequired.ResourcesIdentifying and scheduling the activities to maintain the building and the collections will assistThe Trustees to plan expenditure and seek external funding opportunities.Regular TrainingThe Trustees support of Kaitiaki to have regular training builds capacity within Ngāti Haua. Thisis important in the long-term aspirations for the use and development of the collection and thebuilding.Other issuesThere are other issues not in addressed in the Maintenance Plan that have an impact on thepreservation of the manuscript collection and have been flagged here as requiring development:• Policy issues set out in the earlier report Conservation Plan 2006-2011. The Kaitaiki andThe Trustees could develop the policies as the Maintenance and Disaster PreparednessPlans are being implemented• Longer term space requirements for collections that may be brought into the TeKauwhanganuiPage 75
