Does <strong>Concordia</strong> offer specialized learning support?<strong>Concordia</strong> does not offer services for students with special learning needs or specific learningdisabilities (i.e. significant limited intellectual ability, severe physical handicaps or pronounced social,emotional or behavioral difficulties) that require an IEP (Individualized Education Program). We askfamilies whose children have specialized schooling requirements to provide documentation of theseneeds and the reasons for these requirements. Will my child need to take an entrance exam?<strong>Concordia</strong> automatically requires pre-entry testing for any student who:• Is transferring from a school where a US curriculum is not taught.• Is from a family in which languages other than English are spoken.• Is transferring from a school where English is NOT the medium of instruction.• Has previous school records or reports, which indicate an area of academic concern.• Has been recommended to do so by the Admissions Committee.Testing for elementary students includes both a math and English language component. Student testresults are used to determine student placement and if any additional services are required. It is thegoal of <strong>Concordia</strong> to use entrance exams to determine the match between a particular student’s needsand potential and <strong>Concordia</strong>’s resources and capabilities.1. When should I apply?You are welcome to submit an application at any time during the year; we do not have an applicationdeadline. Due to the potential for a waiting pool at many grade levels, we encourage you to apply assoon as you feel comfortable with your school decision. Upon submission of the completed applicationform and the application fee, the application will be assigned an application date, which we use tomanage our waiting pool. When does the school year begin and end?For the 2012-2013 school year, classes will begin on August 15 and end on June 13.5. What are <strong>Concordia</strong>’s school hours?For preschool through high school the school hours will be 8:30 am to 3:30 pm For Preschool 3-yearolds,there is an option of a half-day with only a morning session from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
