What foreign languages are offered? One of the benefits to living internationally is the opportunity to take advantage of an environment richin a multitude of languages. We believe that in order to be successful in the 21st century, students mustbe able to communicate across cultures, and to have the experience of studying a language other thantheir home language. At Concordia, beginning in Reception and continuing throughout the grades, all students study aModern Language. Currently we offer three choices:1. English Enrichment - for those students who are in the process of acquiring English as a languageother than their home language.2. Vietnamese - While every student at Concordia takes a weekly Vietnamese Culture Studies classtaught in English, students may also choose to study the beautiful language of our host nation andapply it immediately to their daily life.3. Mandarin - The language of one of our bordering nations here in Asia. We chose Mandarindue to its fit with our rigorous AP focused program, as well as its world-wide usefulness. Currently, approximately 1 out of every 4 people in the world speak Mandarin. It should be noted that the Modern Language Program is a part of a full academic program which isdelivered in English; families looking for full literacy in Vietnamese may want to consider local schooloptions or supplementing with tutors.15Concordia16
