The people of Bindal, the southernmost municipality of Nordland,<br />
are renowned as skilled boatbuilders. For centuries they<br />
have supplied the boats with which fishermen plough the waves<br />
– and they still do.<br />

a Crofter’s farm and boatbuildinG traditions<br />
Bindal Bygdetun is a folk museum that comprises the authentic buildings of<br />
an old croft, with furnishings and objects. Klokkergården and a storehouse<br />
have been moved here. Many of the tools and objects shown were used for<br />
boatbuilding, a craft that was practiced here for centuries, right up to the<br />
present day. Season: 23 June – 7 August. Situated at Vassås, 2.5 km northeast<br />

Bøkestad Farm Museum, situated at Bindaleidet, exhibits a collection of interesting<br />

vassås CHurCH<br />
This cruciform octagonal church, built in 1733, has been restored numerous<br />
times, most recently in 1983. Today the church is listed by the Norwegian<br />

Bindal has scenic beauty, clean air and great hiking and fishing opportunities<br />
– in short everything you need for wonderful outdoor adventures. At Bindalseidet<br />
is the Lovers’ Trail, once part of the old thoroughfare between Røtting<br />
and Vikestad. This trail is fittingly marked with red hearts, and there is a barbecue<br />
hut available, should you wish to prepare and share a meal with your<br />
