Brønnøysund is a lively and fast-growing coastal town. An attractive<br />
guest harbour welcomes those who come in their own boat.<br />
Regardless of your means of travel, visitors will find friendly<br />
shopping and all the services they need. Communications are<br />
excellent, with daily calls by the northbound and southbound<br />
Hurtigruten coastal steamers, direct flights to Oslo and Bergen, a<br />
helicopter base servicing offshore facilities, and scheduled bus,<br />
ferry and express boat facilities to destinations near and far.<br />

It’s well worth your while to explore this town, perhaps taking an evening<br />
stroll along Havnegata to view the boats and activity in the harbour. Perhaps<br />
you’ll have a chat with one of the locals, visit one of the pubs, or relax with a<br />
good meal in one of Brønnøysund’s restaurants.<br />
brønnøy CHurCH<br />
This cruciform Neo-Gothic church was built in 1870, but it incorporates<br />
a choir wall and entrance that date back to the Middle Ages. Located in<br />
Brønnøy sund town centre.<br />
norWeGian aquaCulture Centre<br />
(norsk Havbrukssenter)<br />
Norway is one of the world’s largest exporters of fish and seafood. Our clean<br />
and fertile offshore waters are well suited for environmentally responsible<br />
aquaculture. At the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre (Norsk Havbrukssenter)<br />
you can study fish-farming firsthand, control underwater cameras, feed the<br />
salmon, and learn more about this fascinating industry. Guided tours are<br />
offered at 11am, and at 1 and 3pm. Admission: Adults NOK 100, children<br />

“steinar tHe monkfisH” – artsCape nordland<br />
In the sound near Brønnøysund town centre stands the sculpture Steinar<br />
Breiflabb (Steinar the Monkfish), created by the Swedish-French sculptor Erik<br />
Dietman. This is the town’s contribution to the project Artscape Nordland.<br />
atelier inGer-Hilde nyrud<br />
This gallery presents glass art and acrylic paintings of local artist Inger-Hilde<br />

WebjørG steinset’s Gallery and WorksHop<br />
Impressive paintings and traditional Norwegian rose-painting, wooden burls<br />
and tree-stump chairs decorated with animal, fishing and hunting motifs, are<br />
exhibited at Webjørg Steinset’s gallery and workshop. Commissions accepted.<br />
Situated about 10 km south of Brønnøysund, on the way to Torghatten.<br />

torGHatten – tHe famous mountain WitH tHe Hole<br />
The internationally renowned mountain Torghatten is pierced all the way<br />
through – the hole has to be seen to be believed! You might feel very small,<br />
indeed, as you walk through the 160-metre long, 15–20 metre wide<br />
and 35-metre tall tunnel, naturally formed by powerful natural forces.<br />
A 30-minute walk along a well-marked path takes you up there. Situated<br />
15 km from Brønnøy sund.
