builds on the
success of the last
three years and is
now a district-wide,
week-long event.
Many
free
events
Festival highlights include
a fantastic outdoor
performance of As the
World Tipped from Wired
Aerial Theatre which is set
to amaze crowds with its
spectacular aerial theatre
and dramatic visuals set
against the night sky;
100 cyclists will take part
in Ballet Bicycle, a visual
spectacle on wheels that
explores the highs and
lows of urban cycling;

BBC Introducing will
showcase more local
music talent; chart
topping Scouting for
Girls will appear at the
Embassy Theatre and a live
broadcast of La P richole
will be screened direct
from Garsington Opera
in Oxfordshire to the big
screen on the beach at
Skegness. A large-scale
firework event will offer a
spectacular festival finale.

Follow
The Light
Follow the Light is a
special mass-participatory
commission from carnival
pioneers Mahogany and
Serendipity who will work
with local communities
to create a spectacular
on-street procession to
welcome the Olympic
Flame as it travels through
the East Midlands.
Each procession will feature
at least 100 local people
dressed in Mahogany’s
trademark costumes, dhol
players, djembe drummers,
a specially-commissioned
musical score and
choreographed sequences.
