Mandala<br />
Mandala is a bold new<br />
collaboration that will see<br />
Birmingham Town Hall and<br />
Nottingham <strong>Council</strong> House<br />
spectacularly illuminated<br />
in a mind-bending illusion<br />
of colour and light. Fusing<br />
live 3D projections with<br />
international and British<br />
Asian music and dance,<br />
appearances will not<br />
be all they seem…<br />
With live music performed<br />
by Talvin Singh and<br />
live contemporary and<br />
classical dance, including<br />
performances by Devika<br />
Rao and Aakash Odedra,<br />
featuring pre-recorded<br />
tracks by world-class<br />
musicians Anoushka<br />
Shankar and Zakir Hussain,<br />
Mandala will be the free<br />
outdoor multimedia<br />
spectacle not to miss!<br />
A production by sampad<br />
in partnership with New<br />
Art Exchange and seeper.<br />
Mandala will feature as part<br />
of the opening weekend<br />
celebrations of World Event<br />
Young Artists (pg 32).<br />

Bright In<br />
The Corner<br />
Bright in the Corner is a<br />
brand new musical dance<br />
theatre piece created<br />
through collaboration<br />
between artists from<br />
the Black township of<br />
Mamelodi, South Africa<br />
and from Derbyshire, UK.<br />
From a backdrop of serious<br />
social and economic<br />
challenge, an exhilarating<br />
production will uplift<br />
audiences, demonstrating<br />
joy and pride in<br />
international understanding<br />
and shared humanity.<br />
The artists will also be<br />
participating in World Event<br />
Young Artists (pg 32)<br />
and they will deliver a<br />
summer school at the<br />
Joseph Wright Centre,<br />
Derby College with an<br />
educational programme<br />
for local schools,<br />
including a collaboration<br />
with sinfonia ViVA.<br />
