Friday 29 June
The Olympic Flame
travels through the
towns and villages of
Derbyshire, passing on
its journey a series of
nine commemorative
milestones engraved with
poetry by the Derbyshire
Poet Laureate, Matt Black,
before making its next
evening stopover in Derby.
Derby’s official evening
celebration in Darley Park
will feature music from
Loick Essien, a performance
by Landau Forte Youth
Theatre (directed by Tony
Coffey), the Trinity Band
and sinfonia ViVA.
The celebrations will
continue until midnight with
Follow the Light (pg 19)
taking audiences to a party
on Market Place with a
vibrant stage programme
of music, dancing and
on-street entertainment.

Leicester
Monday 2 July
On Monday 2 July the
torch travels through
Northamptonshire and
Leicestershire before its
final evening celebration
in Leicester’s Abbey Park.
The evening celebration
will feature Morning Parade
and local dance companies
Nupur Arts, Desi Masti,
Studio 79, Attitude
Dance and Ellesmere
College, with direction
by Louise Katerega.

Loughborough
Tuesday 3 July
The Olympic Flame
leaves Leicester and
travels to Loughborough
University as the home
of Team GB ahead of the
Games. After morning
celebrations, including a
final outing for Follow the
Light, the Flame leaves
Loughborough, heading
for Rutland Water where
it will set sail on its route
towards Peterborough.
