IRON GUSTAV
In April 1928 Gustav Hartmann,
famously known as “Iron Gustav”, began
a journey by horse-drawn hackney
carriage from Berlin to Paris, where he
arrived in June 1928. The purpose of his
trip was to draw attention to the plight of
the hackney carriage trade. Back in 1996,
Steiff commemorated Iron Gustav with
a bear measuring 35 cm. This year a
smaller version (22 cm) has been introduced
as part of the Berlin “Milljöh” (Milieu)
series. The Steiff Iron Gustav sports
an elegant taxi uniform with a felt top hat
and bow tie, and a horseshoe necklace
featuring the dates 1928/2011. Iron Gustav
holds a riding crop in his right paw.
Produced in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces,
he is available exclusively from KaDeWe in
Berlin under EAN 673269:
NEWS
THE OKTOBERFEST CHILDREN
Do you remember? It is just one year ago that our Oktoberfest Teddy bear met
and fell in love with his “sweetheart”. We knew it wouldn’t be long before we
heard the patter of tiny feet. Join us in welcoming the Oktoberfest children
who pose here for the Club magazine in their beer festival look.
The delightful girl and the good-looking boy are both 15 cm tall. The girl is
manufactured from white mohair plush fabric and wears a chequered bow in
her “hair”. In her right paw she holds three balloons in pink, blue and green
made from jersey material. The boy bear wears a blue-and-white chequered
neckerchief. The cone in his right paw is printed with blue hearts and labelled
“Oktoberfest – Roasted Almonds”. With the addition of these two children, the
Oktoberfest family is now complete! The limited edition set of 1,000 can be
obtained exclusively from OBERPOLLINGER in Munich under EAN 673313.
