The Sikh Bulletin m`Gr- poh 544 nwnkSwhI November-December 2012colloquial word for ‘arb’) means one billion and‘Narbad’ means which cannot be counted in ‘Arbad’,therefore, Arbad narbad, means more than one billion, may be a period in tens of billions of years. Thepresent estimation of origin of Universe is 13-15 billionyears and that of solar system is about 4.6 billion years.3. Guru Nanak calls the Laws of Universe as Laws ofGod (hukmu Apwrw).5. suMn (Sunn) has been interpreted as‘Nothingness’,which has been explained as follows.v) Sunn (suMn) – Is It Nothingness? Many theologians consider Sunn equivalent to God.Dhaliwal [10] says that ‘Sunn’ is the state of equipoisewhere Absolute Entity exists in Primodial Trance alongwith the creation. There, the essence of Enlightenmentand the Ultimate Reality are hidden and inscrutable inthe realm of celestial peace and bliss. However, Dr Virk[31] describes that: “Sunya (suMn) is not equated withvoid or emptiness in Guru Granth Sahib. Rather, itrepresents the entire state of equipoise where AbsoluteLord exists in primordial trance called sunya Samadhi.”He further states: “Sunya is compared to a primordialvoid where God exists in His full effulgence.”LaFee [16] says: “The meaning of ‘Nothingness’ is apersistent philosophical conundrum, but it is also amatter of intense, if somewhat unrequited, scientificinquiry on both the largest and smallest of scales.” Hefurther says: “More than 99 percent of atoms are emptyspace. The vast majority of the Universe appears toconsist of something best described as nothing. It isspace containing absolutely no recognizable matter:nothing solid, liquid or gas. Yet numerous astronomicalstudies indicate that something is out there, somethingunseen that exerts force and influence on a cosmic andquantum scale, binding both atoms and galaxiestogether.”Then Kaup [14] defines ‘Nothingness’ as follows:“Nothingness Theory defines nonexistence as being theabsence of existence, the absence of nothingness, andthe absence of absence. It is what is not being referredtounder any circumstances. Nonexistence by definitionis that which cannot be referred-to, named, or defined. So referring – to it in any way violates its strictdefinition. But this fundamental paradox is at the basisof Nothingness Theory and must be referred-to anyway.Despite it’s not being, absolute nonexistence exerts adetectable force. We have proven through simple logicthat the Universe has and always will exist. Therefore, the Universe must have existed before the “Big Bang”and will exist forever. This also means that the state ofnothingness from which the Universe burst intoexistence must have existed relative to absolutenonexistence given that absolute nonexistence is notachievable. So space/time – matter/energy can attainrelative nonexistence by collapsing into infinitedensity, which is a uniform state of static equilibrium.Examples of this state of relative nonexistence can beseen throughout the Universe in the form of ‘blackholes’.” (Fig. 15-6)A ‘black hole’ is created when matter and spacebecome concentrated so that there is no differentiationbetween them. To apprehend the full meaning ofexistence, nonexistence, energy, matter and force, onemust embrace the paradox embodied in a black hole. The essence of a black hole is that it isn’t there, but ithas a location relative to existing systems upon whichit exerts the most powerful cosmic force. It is an areaof nonexistence that has no area. The so called supermassiveblack holes, apparently at the center of everygalaxy, swallow up entire solar systems and yetcontain nothing inside of them because they have noinside to fill up.‘Nothingness’ does not mean ‘without anything’. Infact the thing is there but it is in a so small volume thatit appears to be ‘Nothingness’. This ‘Nothingness’ asdescribed by Kaup [14] actually is the pinnacle ofperfectly symmetrical uniformity of matter, space, energy and time. According to the ‘Big BangTheory’ the energy was in such a small volume thathas been termed as ‘Nothingness’ by some and as‘Singularity’ by others. This ‘Nothingness’ was already termed as suMn(sunn) by Guru Nanak during 15 th century. It isalso termed as ‘Joyt’ (highly condensed energy) byGuru Nanak. The following discussion will furtherstrengthen it.It is also important to understand contents of the‘Universe’. Kaup [14] defines ‘Universe’ as follows:“The Universe is anything that has been, or ever willbe detectable by humans. It is the manifestation oftemporal existence – composed of matter, energy, space, and time, and is the macro-system of which allK. T. F. of N. A.
