GENERAL INFORMATIONOBSERVATION OF CHILDREN IN THE CLASSROOMAny parent or adult who wishes to observe a classroom must obtain prior permission from theprincipal. Request should be made at least one (1) day before. For a specified reason parents arewelcome and may be invited into the classroom to observe a group of children in action at specifictimes during the year.BEFORE SCHOOL/AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM<strong>St</strong>. <strong>Rose</strong>-<strong>McCarthy</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>School</strong> provides a child care system for our students, in orderto provide a convenient, supervised program that is affordable to all. The after school program isavailable after every school day except minimum days before Thanksgiving and Easter holidays andthe last day of school. Children must be picked up by 5:30 p.m. A late fee of $5.00 every 10minutes, per child will be assessed for late pickups. <strong>Parent</strong>s may register their children for dailyparticipation or for only certain days each week.HOURLY RATES: $ 3.00 per hour - per child (one hour minimum charge)BEFORE SCHOOL: $15.00 per week - per child 7:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.$ 4.00 daily rateFamilies who use this program on a regular basis must pay in advance. Families who use thisprogram on an occasional or “drop-in” basis must pay in full when children are picked up.FIELD TRIPSTeachers may arrange for classes to go on local study trips with permission from the principal.These trips must be of educational or cultural value and are not to be considered “Free days”.All students transported by the school to school-sponsored events shall have the written permissionof the parent or guardian using the schools permission form.All drivers must be 25 years or older and have insurance coverage verified by the principal. Therequired coverage is $100,000/$300,000 liability, $50,000 property damage, and $5,000 medical andcurrent California unrestricted Drivers License. There MUST be seat belts for every passenger. Thisis necessary in order to transport students to any school sponsored activity. Volunteer drivers andchaperones should not bring additional persons with them such as their other children. If there wereany problems, a volunteer driver or chaperone must be free to give their full attention to the childrenunder their care.Classes may have limited approved fund-raisers to finance field trips. Field trips are privilegesafforded to students and therefore students can be denied participation if they fail to meet academicor behavioral requirements.Only chaperones are permitted on field trips. <strong>Parent</strong>s may not attend if they were not selectedto be a chaperone. Absolutely no other children are allowed to attend if you are a chaperone.6
