Reciprocal HealthAgreements/EHICYour Coverwhat you are covered forwhat you are not covered forReciprocal Health Agreements/ European HealthInsurance Card (EHIC)If you are a UK resident you are entitled to medicaltreatment, which becomes necessary whentemporarily visiting countries in the European Union(EU), Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerlandfree of charge or at a reduced cost by using the EHIC.You can apply for an EHIC for your spouse/partner andany children up to the age of 16 (19 if they are in full timeeducation) at the same time as applying for your own.Application forms are available via www.ehic.org.ukYou will need to have the following information foreveryone you are applying for:• Name and date of birth• NHS or National Insurance (NI) numberIf you use the EHIC the exclusion of the excess as shownin the Summary of Cover for each and every claim underSection 6 – Medical Emergency Expenses will not apply.Also, if you are travelling to Australasia there arereciprocal medical treatment arrangements for UnitedKingdom nationals. In-patient and out-patient publichospital treatment is given free of charge or at a minimalcost.
