General Exclusionsfrom your policyGeneralExclusionsBeach villas on the MaldiveIslands, in the Indian Ocean250 miles south-west ofIndia. The archipelagoof twenty-six islands,surrounded by coral reefsare rich in marine life and apopular location for thosewho enjoy diving.YOU ARE NOT COVERED FORAnything directly or indirectly caused by:1) your suicide, or attempted suicide, deliberatelyinjuring yourself, being under the influence of drinkor drugs (unless prescribed by a doctor), alcoholism orother alcohol related illnesses, drug addiction, solventabuse, self-exposure to needless danger (unless you aretrying to save someone’s life);2) you being compulsorily detained as a psychiatricpatient in a hospital or other medical facility. (Thisexclusion applies in all cases whether the premiumhas been paid to cover a pre-existing medical conditionor not);3) professional or organised sports, winter sports (unlessthe appropriate premium has been paid), racing, speedor endurance tests, scuba diving to a depth greater than30 metres, scuba diving without a qualified instructor, ordangerous pursuits;4) air travel (other than as a fare-paying passenger on aregular scheduled airline or licensed charter aircraft);5) air travel within 24 hours of scuba diving;6) bankruptcy/liquidation of any tour operator, travelagent or transportation company (except under theterms of Section 17-End Supplier Failure);7) any other loss connected to the event you areclaiming for unless we specifically provide cover underthis policy;8) loss or damage to any property and expense or legalliability; directly or indirectly caused by or contributed toby or arising from:a) ionising radiations or radioactive contaminationfrom any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste which results inburning of nuclear fuel;b) the radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerousproperties of nuclear machinery or any part of it;c) pressure waves from aircraft and other flying objectstravelling faster than the speed of sound.9)a) war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities orwarlike operations (whether war be declared or not), civilwar, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, civil commotionor uprising, blockade, military or usurped power;b) any act of terrorism not involving the use or release ofor threat thereof of any nuclear weapon or any chemicalor biological agents:i) this exclusion will not apply to Section 5 – PersonalAccident or Section 6 – Medical Emergency Expensesprovided that the Insured Person suffering personalaccident injury or illness has not participated in orconspired in such activities,ii) provided also that in the event of benefit beingpayable the maximum payable in respect of any oneclaim or series of claims arising from a single act ofterrorism or series of acts of terrorism occurring within a72 hour period is £2,500,000 in the aggregate.c) any act of terrorism involving the use or release of orthreat thereof of any nuclear weapon or any chemicalor biological agents: An act of terrorism means an act,including but not limited to the use of force or violenceand/or threat, of any person or group(s) of person(s),whether they are acting alone or on behalf of or inconnection with any organisation(s) or government(s),committed for political, religious, ideological or similarpurpose including the intention to influence anygovernment and/or to put the public, or any section ofthe public at fear;d) any loss, damage, cost or expense of any naturethat results from or is in connection with anythingmentioned in a), b) or c) above regardless of any othercause or event or sequence of events or any actiontaken in controlling, preventing or suppressing anythingmentioned in a), b) or c) above; You are responsible forproving why this Exclusion, in whole or in part, shouldnot be applied. If any portion of this Exclusion is foundto be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of it willremain in force and effect;10) you riding on a motorcycle, Quad bike or anymechanically assisted cycle with an engine capacity inexcess of 125cc and in any event if you fail to wear acrash helmet;11) you driving a motor vehicle or riding a motorcycle,Quad bike or any mechanically assisted cycle without anappropriate licence or when not insured under a motorinsurance policy;12) the cost of any elective (non-emergency) treatmentor surgery, including exploratory tests, which are notdirectly related to the illness or injury which necessitatedyour admittance into hospital;13) mountaineering or rock climbing, ordinarilynecessitating the use of picks, ropes or guides,or pot-holing;14) your manual work or hazardous occupation ofany kind;Continued....28 <strong>AllClear</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> <strong>Insurance</strong> – General Exclusions <strong>AllClear</strong> <strong>Travel</strong> <strong>Insurance</strong> – General Exclusions 29
