It starts chronologicallywith the first work of Joseph Lanner, reminiscent of Schubert’s"New Vienna Country Dance" and leads into various stages of developmentfrom the Vienna waltz to the evolution of a new generation("First thoughts" of August Lanner) and the complete assumption ofthe paternal heritage (Johann Strauß junior and Josef and EduardStrauß). The two works of the Reutterer/Müller duo have broughtthis tradition up to the present day (Lyrics Sinkovicz). The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra plays for HERZThe CD was recorded by the Vienna Violin Quartet (Wiener GeigenQuartett) in the abbey church of Sacre Coeur in Pressbaum. Thefour musicians, Günter Seifert – violin, Eckhard Seifert – violin andviola, Milan Šetena – violin – all members of the Vienna PhilharmonicOrchestra – and Josef Pitzek – double bass, member of the RadioSymphonic Orchestra, devoted themselves to the works of JosephLanner and Johann Strauß senior. To give their music a free and easystyle, the quartet is standing during the performance – a practicethat is unfortunately not very common nowadays. The "Plumbers’ Polka" in Russian – a surprise for HERZHERZ music is already well known outside Austria.
