Supplement5 includes the glyphs that are necessary to completely support theJIS X 0213:2004 character set standard.• Section 9: Supplement 6. This section contains the glyphs (<strong>CID</strong>s 20317through 23057) which, along with those is sections 3 through 8 (<strong>CID</strong>s 0through 20316), comprise the <strong>Adobe</strong>-<strong>Japan1</strong>-6 character collection. Supplement6 includes the glyphs that are necessary to completely support theJIS X 0212-1990 character set standard, and thus obsoletes the <strong>Adobe</strong>-Japan2-0 character collection (<strong>Adobe</strong> Tech Note #5097). It also includesthe glyphs necessary to support Kyodo News’ U-PRESS character set.In addition, section 2 describes the <strong>CID</strong> <strong>Character</strong> Code Tables which providea cross reference between <strong>CID</strong> numbers and the character codes in variousstandard Japanese character sets. The tables themselves are provided asan electronic file, and assist in per<strong>for</strong>ming easy cross-referencing of <strong>CID</strong>numbers and character codes. This table is also helpful in identifying the correspondencebetween <strong>CID</strong> number and character shape class. The table isavailable from the <strong>Adobe</strong> Developers Association.NotePostScript printers with a PostScript language version prior to 2015 will notbe compatible with <strong>CID</strong>-keyed fonts without the prior installation of the <strong>CID</strong>Support Library. This library consists of a package of PostScript languageprocedures which is available <strong>for</strong> licensing from the <strong>Adobe</strong> Developers Association.The typeface used to illustrate each glyph in this document is Kozuka MinchoPro-VI Light (<strong>CID</strong>FontVersion=6.004), designed by <strong>Adobe</strong> Systems asan <strong>Adobe</strong> Original typeface design.1.1 <strong>Adobe</strong>-<strong>Japan1</strong>-0 through <strong>Adobe</strong>-<strong>Japan1</strong>-3 Kana Subsets<strong>Adobe</strong> Systems has defined and sanctioned the use of official “Kana” subsets<strong>for</strong> <strong>Adobe</strong>-<strong>Japan1</strong>-0 through <strong>Adobe</strong>-<strong>Japan1</strong>-3 that includes kana and othercharacters (some symbols and punctuation), but no kanji. Fonts based onthese subsets are useful as kana-only font products <strong>for</strong> use with <strong>Adobe</strong> TypeComposer software, or as stand-alone fonts.
