Morgan wasone of the most exciting trumpet players of the’50s and ’60s. He began his career at 15, andplayed with McCoy Tyner when they were bothhigh school students in Philadelphia. Soonafter, he met the likes of Miles Davis and DizzyGillespie, the latter of whom brought him intohis big band after Morgan graduated high school.
