Open Top Sightseeing, Hyattsville. In addition to the eight Enviro E500s mentioned in OJ825, this operator has
recently added six 13.2metre Ayats 3-axle integrals with Caterpillar engines and Bravo City style open-top
bodywork to its fleet here. Amending my note in OJ825, this company is not a subsidiary of Les Cars Rouges,
Paris, but is associated with that company.
Pullen, Westminster. MXX 262 was transported to covered accommodation in Westminster for restoration, 5/08.
Washington DC Double Decker Tours, Hyattsville/Washington. 310 (LAT 504V) carries the front grill, complete
with the registration plate, from LAT 503V, leading to confusion amongst observers, your sub-editor included!
It is suggested that if 312 (LAT 503V) ever operated in Washington, it did so only in 7/07; certainly when Bob
Martin visited in 9/07, it was being used as a seat store. Meanwhile both 316 (BYX 255V) and 317 (LAT 501V)
did operate in Washington but have now been withdrawn (by10/08) and along with 312 (LAT 503V) are
providing spares.

APTA 2008
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) annual meeting and Expo show were held in San Diego
in October 2008. This is a major event and all the major suppliers were represented at the Expo show. Paul
Bateson has supplied the following list of exhibitors and the vehicles present. ‘Cutaways’ and other smaller
shuttle-type vehicles are not included. The two main themes in the current US market are hybrid drives (mostly
diesel engines with auxiliary battery packs but also battery-dominant types), and ‘Bus Rapid Transit’ (BRT), more
a styling reference than a commitment to ‘busway’ type systems.
