Callers reportedobta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g prescription drugs mostcommonly by buy<strong>in</strong>g drugs fromthe street (77%, n=283) or froma friend or family member (50%,n=185). Notably, only 11% (n=41)reported obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g their drugs bydoctor shopp<strong>in</strong>g. Not surpris<strong>in</strong>gly,because of the addictive nature ofopiates, 46% (n=266) of callers statedthey take prescription drugs to feelnormal and another 24% (n=135) forchronic pa<strong>in</strong> relief. Still, 11% (n=109)of callers reported tak<strong>in</strong>g prescriptiondrugs to achieve a “high”.Satisfaction with <strong>WV</strong>PDAQ ServicesIn September 2009, the <strong>WV</strong>PDAQimplemented a caller satisfactionsurvey. The caller satisfaction surveyis a brief, five question survey thatasks callers about their op<strong>in</strong>ionsand satisfaction with the <strong>WV</strong>PDAQservices. When callers were asked“How satisfied were you withthe services you received today?”100% (n=84) of callers reportedbe<strong>in</strong>g somewhat to very satisfiedwith the services they receivedwith 83% (n=70) report<strong>in</strong>g theywere very satisfied. When asked,“How quickly were you able tospeak to an educator?” 98% (n=82)of callers reported that they wereable to speak to an educator rightaway. F<strong>in</strong>ally when asked, “Wouldyou recommend the Quitl<strong>in</strong>e toothers who have a problem withprescription drug abuse?” 94%(n=79) of callers said that theywould def<strong>in</strong>itely or probablyrecommend the Quitl<strong>in</strong>e to others.Drop-out AnalysesAfter remov<strong>in</strong>g proxy (non-user)callers (n=248, 37%) from surveys,a chi-square test for <strong>in</strong>dependencewas employed to determ<strong>in</strong>e if anygroup differences existed between<strong>WV</strong>PDAQ callers who completed atleast one follow-up survey aga<strong>in</strong>stcallers who only completed the <strong>in</strong>takesurvey at the basel<strong>in</strong>e (<strong>in</strong>take surveydata).
