Accountability …Private Support• <strong>UC</strong>SC has successfully secured private support totaling over $35 million in 2004-05 and almost $117 million in the past5 years.• $2.7 million was raised last year to provide scholarships and fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students at<strong>UC</strong>SC. <strong>The</strong> announcement was made at the annual scholarships benefit dinner on November 5, 2005. This nearlytriples the $1 million announced at last year’s benefit dinner.• Nine <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Cruz</strong> graduate students have received scholarships totaling $100,000 from the Achievement Rewardsfor College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation for the 2005-06 academic year. <strong>The</strong> California chapter <strong>of</strong> the ARCSFoundation is the most generous provider <strong>of</strong> all private awards to the <strong>UC</strong>SC campus and has provided more that $1million in scholarships to 197 scholars at <strong>UC</strong>SC.• <strong>The</strong> single largest private fund source in 2004-05 was the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation at $4 million.• Friends and Support Groups include: <strong>UC</strong>SC Affiliates, <strong>UC</strong>SC Women’s Club, <strong>UC</strong>SC Arboretum Associates, <strong>UC</strong>SCLifelong Learners, Friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>UC</strong>SC Farm and Garden, Friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>UC</strong>SC Library, Friends <strong>of</strong> the <strong>UC</strong>SC LongMarine Laboratory, Friends <strong>of</strong> Shakespeare SC, and Friends <strong>of</strong> the Dickens Project.
