Divisional profiles …Business and AdministrativeServices ProfileMission Statement:Business and Administrative Services (BAS) units provideand maintain the administrative and physical infrastructuresupporting the research, teaching, and service mission ofthe campus. From providing police, fire, andenvironmental health and safety services, to overseeing thecampus financial and staff human resources and payrollprocess, BAS units are engaged in aligning administrativeservices with academic priorities, reducing risk, andmaintaining the extraordinary physical environment of thecampus.A UCSC firefighter is shown rappelling downthe side of the UCSC Interdisciplinary SciencesBuilding, which was the site of severalcoordinated training exercises by campusfirefighters and the Santa Cruz FireDepartment.The Business and Administrative Services division consists oftwelve major units that are organized into four thematic clusters:• Business Services• Internal Control• Physical Environment• Safety ServicesA sampling of theservices providedby BAS:BAS staff:• Provide life safety and security services, including lawenforcement;• Provide health, safety, and environmental protectionprograms to the university and surrounding areas;• Provide accounting services, assessment and mitigationof fiduciary risk, and protection and effectiveutilization of university assets and resources,• Provide staff human resources services, including laborrelations services for staff personnel.• Plan, design, construct, and administer campusconstruction projects;• Provide services for the safe and efficient operation,maintenance and repair of the campus infrastructureand physical assets;• Provide transportation and parking services to allcampus constituents;• Provide business services such as procurement, maildelivery, printing, copy, and temporary staff support.649.02 Budgeted Staff FTE
