InstallationInstallationEach of the above relays or others having similar power requirements may be used.The timer may be installed using a mounting bracket which attaches to the rails in an equipment rack consistent with themounting of US&S PN style relays. Or an alternate bracket consistent with the mounting of GRS relays may be used.Alternately, either bracket may be inverted making it compatible with wall mounting. Figure 2 illustrates both configurations.The following schematic illustrates wiring to the unit in a configuration where power is applied over the front contact of arelay with the output connected to a polar relay. It should be noted, the output voltage is negative with respect to batterycommon, and that the negative of the relay coil must be connected to -VOUT. Other than the obvious of wiring the unitcorrectly, no special precautions are required. Nor are there any special considerations as to how wiring should be run orthe location of relays in close proximity to the time delay unit and the potential for inductive interference.Figure 1. Wiring of Fixed TimerTestingA simple test in the field may be performed by observing the wiring shown above but by connecting a meter where normallythe relay would be connected and using a clip lead or touching to BATT (+) to initiate the test. The LED on front of theunit should start to flash at the instant power is applied and switch to steady illumination after completion of the timingcycle.
