Once the tapes have been transcribed you will be sent acopy to confirm the accuracy <strong>of</strong> the text.Do I have to take part?Your decision to participate is entirely voluntary. If you agree to take part you willbe invited to give written consent prior to the interviews. If you decide to takepart you are still free to withdraw at any time <strong>and</strong> without giving a reason.How will the anonymity <strong>of</strong> the participants <strong>and</strong> the confidentiality <strong>of</strong> thedata be safeguarded?All data collected will remain confidential <strong>and</strong> used solely for the study. Toassure your anonymity, researchers will remove, omit or change any identifiablematerial from interview data. Additionally, although lead <strong>academics</strong> will be knownto the researchers, we will ensure you are not linked with a particularorganisation to prevent you being identified. All electronic files, paper basedmaterials <strong>and</strong> tape recordings will be destroyed once the research findings havebeen disseminated.Only the research team will have access to the interview tapes <strong>and</strong> transcripts,which will be kept anonymous <strong>and</strong> in a locked cabinet. Your identity will not berevealed in any report or publication as a result <strong>of</strong> the study. Questionnaires,tapes <strong>and</strong> transcripts will be destroyed after a maximum <strong>of</strong> 3 years to allow thefinal report <strong>and</strong> papers to be written.What will happen to the results <strong>of</strong> the study?A report <strong>of</strong> the evaluation will be presented to HERDA SW <strong>and</strong> to the StrategicHealth Authority, South West. It is anticipated that an executive summary <strong>of</strong> theproject will be circulated to all who participated.
