What is on that other side? The residual steel glistens with a powerful redundancy; a residue that has failed to make the lives it couldhave made. A cinematographic flux suffuses the temporality of Norayr Kasper‘s photography, as distantfrom nostalgia as from photo-reportage. What is at stake in these works, is not disappearance, it is existance.Steel-Lives, Still-Life is a narrative bracketed within a Palladian lightness. The woman knows too she has beenbracketed by a world that has gone on without her. This is still life but one which has the reality to shock.Centro Studi e Documentazione della Cultura Armena, Loggia del Temanza, Dorsoduro 1602 (Corte Zappa)June 1st – November 24thh. 10 – 18 closed on MondaysOrganization: Centro Studi e Documentazione della Cultura Armenawww.steel-lives.comThe Dream of Eurasia. 987 TestimonialsThe Italian AttitudeThe installation encapsulates two aspects: Omar Galliani's artistic language, which draws on the great ItalianRenaissance tradition, and his ability to establish a dialogue between European and Asian cultures. Theunderlying metaphor for understanding this new configuration is the fractal: the oval of the Eurasian facerepresents the faces of millions on which the column is rooted. Morphological and cultural diversity isacknowledged in the sharing of a new value that stems from the union of differences. To implement theproject, the artist and curators, in synergy with Italian firms, will involve 987 testimonials, whose presencewill be documented in the form of photos and video footage.Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto, San Marco 2504 (Fondamenta Duodo o Barbarigo)June 1st – September 30thh. 14 – 18 closed on TuesdaysOrganization: Fondazione Antonio Mazzottawww.venicebiennale-eurasia2013.orgwww.mazzotta-as.comThe Grand CanalThe Grand Canal of China, a living cultural heritage and the theme of this collateral exhibition, was dug toopen up the exchange of human and material resources, and led to an encyclopedic dissemination of art, ideas and culture consistent with today’s globalization. What can wedo? This question forms the fundamental body of the project, though adding a synthesis: possibly the actionsthat we can undertake to set-up a sustainable civilization must be linked to our intimate feelings andthoughts, those territories of creative and affective thinking, charged with energy and of very difficultdestruction. We know what the territories close to belongings can give of themselves, as well as theimpersonation of the states of mind for consumption; thus, let us try with affections because we have noother choice, The Intimate Subversion.Scuola di San Pasquale, Castello 2786 (San Francesco della Vigna)June 1st – September 30thh. 10 – 18 closed on MondaysOrganization: MUSAC.
