Thomas Zipp - Comparative investigation about the <strong>di</strong>sposition of the width of a circleThe German artist Thomas Zipp's project relates to both The Width of a Circle by David Bowie, whose lyrics,using parables from Nietsche's Thus spoke Zarathrustra, express his relationship with the 'devil drug', andl'arc de circle, which metaphorically denotes reactions triggered in hypnotized patients for hysteria researchpurposes by Jean-Maria Charcot (1825-1983). Zipp installs a version of a psychiatric unit that deals withhysteria, and the duality (schizophrenia) in one person - the artist is both patient and doctor.
