4.3 Existing Traffic Volumes<br />

Traffic surveys were recorded by video, allowing assessment by gap analysis to establish capacities<br />

for individual movements at the intersection <strong>of</strong> <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong> with High Street, and peak hour<br />

turning movement counts at the <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong>/ Laneway intersection on Thursday 2 August 2012<br />

between 7am to 9am and 5pm-7pm.<br />

The peak hour was recorded between 7:30-8:30am in the morning, and 5:45pm-6:45m in the<br />

afternoon. A summary <strong>of</strong> the traffic movements is illustrated in Figure 8.<br />

Review <strong>of</strong> the traffic survey data indicates that <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong> currently carries 13 vehicles per hour<br />

in the morning peak (1 outbound and 12 inbound movements), and 6 vehicles per hour in the<br />

afternoon (3 inbound and 3 outbound movements).<br />

It is also noted that during the morning peak between 7am-9am Monday to Friday, ‘No Right Turn’<br />

restriction applies from the High Street north approach to Clarke Street west approach. Consequently,<br />

High Street southbound traffic travelling to Clarke Street is required to find alternative traffic routes.<br />

As such, there were 8 vehicles recorded turning right from High Street into <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong> to access<br />

Clarke Street during the morning peak hour, via the southern section <strong>of</strong> the laneway. At this time, no<br />

traffic movements were recorded between the western end <strong>of</strong> <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong> and the laneway.<br />

In the afternoon peak, there were 2 inbound vehicle movements recorded in the southern section <strong>of</strong><br />

the laneway, from Clarke Street to access <strong>Campbell</strong> <strong>Grove</strong>.<br />
