8 Bicycle Considerations<br />

The bicycle parking requirements for the proposed development are set out in Clause 52.34-3 <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Darebin</strong> Planning Scheme, which requires that in residential developments <strong>of</strong> four or more storeys,<br />

bicycle parking should be provided at a rate <strong>of</strong> 1 space to each 5 dwellings for residents and 1 space<br />

to each 10 dwellings for visitors.<br />

Application <strong>of</strong> the above rates to the proposed development equates to a bicycle parking requirement<br />

for 18 resident spaces and 9 visitor spaces.<br />

The applicant has proposed a generous bicycle parking provision <strong>of</strong> 90 spaces for the development,<br />

comprising <strong>of</strong> 78 resident spaces and 12 visitor spaces. Of the 78 resident bicycle parking spaces, 46<br />

<strong>of</strong> these spaces are provided within storage units.<br />

This level <strong>of</strong> bicycle parking exceeds the requirement <strong>of</strong> Clause 52.34 for bicycle parking.<br />
