RRTC ON COMMUNITY INTEGRATION OF PERSONS WITH <strong>TBI</strong>After a moderate-<strong>to</strong>-severe <strong>TBI</strong>, you may need <strong>to</strong> take sometime off from work. You may not be able <strong>to</strong> go back <strong>to</strong>work. This may cause financial stresses. You may alsoneed outside assistance, such as medical care, counseling,and services <strong>to</strong> help. The following list of communityresources provides in<strong>for</strong>mation on local, state, and nationalservices that may be able <strong>to</strong> help. For some specificin<strong>for</strong>mation about how <strong>to</strong> apply <strong>for</strong> a Harris County HealthDistrict Gold Card, please see page 74 of this manual.Note from Jason: I know, and you will shortly find out that there are not <strong>to</strong>o manyresources and services that exist solely <strong>for</strong> people <strong>with</strong> <strong>TBI</strong>. But, there are some. They arenot always easy <strong>to</strong> find. In fact, sometimes it really takes your initiative and motivation <strong>to</strong>find them. Sometimes we have <strong>to</strong> improvise and make things work the best we can <strong>for</strong> thesituation. Where there is a will, there is a way and in this situation you will have <strong>to</strong> dosome of the legwork. Here are a few resources in the Hous<strong>to</strong>n area that may be beneficial <strong>to</strong>you. I hope this in<strong>for</strong>mation will serve you well.
