RRTC ON COMMUNITY INTEGRATION OF PERSONS WITH TBIAfter a moderate-to-severe TBI, you may need to take sometime off from work. You may not be able to go back towork. This may cause financial stresses. You may alsoneed outside assistance, such as medical care, counseling,and services to help. The following list of communityresources provides information on local, state, and nationalservices that may be able to help. For some specificinformation about how to apply for a Harris County HealthDistrict Gold Card, please see page 74 of this manual.Note from Jason: I know, and you will shortly find out that there are not too manyresources and services that exist solely for people with TBI. But, there are some. They arenot always easy to find. In fact, sometimes it really takes your initiative and motivation tofind them. Sometimes we have to improvise and make things work the best we can for thesituation. Where there is a will, there is a way and in this situation you will have to dosome of the legwork.
