4 6 Drive system & chassis Safety ComfortSafe drivingThe assistance systems in the C-Class can intervene before an accident happens: thanks to their awareness, even critical situations can be defused –the ideal basis for relaxed driving.Lane Keeping Assist/Blind Spot Assist (Lane Trackingpackage, optional). Lane Keeping Assist detects the whitelines on the road. If the car leaves its lane unintentionally,the system can warn the driver by making thesteering wheel vibrate gently. Blind Spot Assist uses tworadar sensors to monitor the area which cannot be seenby the driver directly alongside and behind the car –in short: if the assistance system detects the dangerof an impending collision with another vehicle whenchanging lanes, the driver is warned by a signal inthe exterior mirror if the car is travelling at 30 km/hor more.ATTENTION ASSIST (included with the optional luxurymultifunction steering wheel). This new drowsinessdetection system can be especially useful on long trips.Between 80 and 180 km/h, ATTENTION ASSIST warnsthe driver as soon as it detects typical signs of drowsinessor inattention.
