And thanks to convenience-enhancing assistance systems such asSpeed Limit Assist Plus, Parking Guidance and the reversing camera, it more than lives up to this reputation.Speed Limit Assist (included with the optionalCOMAND Online system). Speed Limit Assist can detectspeed-limit signs and display them as symbols on theinstrument cluster. They remain displayed there untilthe speed restriction is lifted or changed. To this end, awindscreen-mounted camera monitors the area in frontof the car on a permanent basis. The camera filtersout round traffic signs, be they speed-limit signs atthe side of the road or on a gantry above the road.To detect the signs, the system also scans the datastored on the navigation system’s digital map, thus alsoenabling the identification and display of the signsseen when entering or leaving some towns and villages.Speed Limit Assist is especially helpful on routes withvariable speed limits or road works. In addition,Speed Limit Assist compares the signposted speedlimits with the data stored in the navigation system.Speed Limit Assist Plus can even indicate temporary speed limits
