Campbellhad 179 career assists entering this year, and currently has 42 this season, giving him 221 on hiscareer. Campbell needs just two more to catch Rick Coleman, who is currently sixth all-time inUB history with 223 career assists. Ryan Peterson, a former teammate of Campbell’s, is next onthe list with 278 career assists.BROWN NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENTUB-CANISIUS MAKEUP DATE SET FOR FEB. 6Buffalo and Canisius will makeup their snowed out game from earlier this year on February 6,at 7 pm at the Canisius College Koessler Center. The game was scheduled for Monday, November20 at Canisius, but was cancelled due to the bad weather and massive amounts of snow that hit theBuffalo area that day, almost leaving the Bulls stuck at the pregame meal.BULLS COURT REPORTJunior Rob Brown was named to the USF Shootout All-Tournament team afterleading the Bulls to a win over Alcorn State in the consulation game. Brown had18 points, eight rebounds and a career-high five assists in the win over the Braveswhile playing on a bad ankle he twisted in the first round matchup with EasternIllinois. Brown also had 13 points and five rebounds in the Bulls’ loss to thePanthers. He hit 8-of-16 (.500) shots from the field and 15-of-22 (.682) from theline in the two games.ALSTON PROVIDES SOLID MINUTES OFF THE BENCHSenior O’Tes Alston has been providing solid minutes off the bench for the Bulls lately. Overthe last three games he has played (Alston missed the Jan. 3 game against Akron with a sprainedankle), Alston has averaged 5.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while playing in 15.7 minutesper game. He had four points and four rebounds in just eight minutes of work in the win overAlcorn State and recorded career-highs with eight points and eight rebounds against Eastern Illinois.In the overtime loss at Marshall, he pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. For the season,Alston is averaging 3.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and is playing in 13.8 minutes per game.MR. ROBINSON’S NEIGHBORHOODUB junior Jason Robinson has been impressive in his first season at UB. He hasscored in double figures in eight of the ten games this year and his hit 20 or morepoints three times, including 21 against 15th-ranked North Carolina.Robinson is averaging 15.1 points per game on the season, second best on theteam, and leads the team in rebounding with 6.1 per game. He is hitting 45.6%(57-125) from the field and 43.1% (28-of-65) from three-point range. Robinsonaverages 2.80 three-pointers per game, which ties him for first in the MAC withteammate Damien Foster. Both of those games will beshown on ESPN Plus and Empire Sports Network. The Feb. 12 home game with Eastern Michiganwill be shown on Fox Sports Regional and Empire as part of the MAC package as well. TheFebruary 24 game against Miami will be shown locally on Adelphia HTTV. Robert Browngot the first of the year in the season opener against Niagara, recording game-highs with 25 pointsand 13 rebounds. Against Fairleigh Dickinson, Louis Campbell recorded 11 points and a careerhigh14 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. UB then had two players record adouble-double in the overtime loss to Canisius as Campbell did it for the second time, recording agame-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jason Robinson also got into the act, recording careerhighs with 20 points and 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the year.In UB’s last appearance at Alumni Arena, junior Davis Lawrence was a keycomponent of the Bulls’ win over Duquesne (12/5), scoring a career-high 15 pointsoff the bench. Lawrence scored 13 of those 15 points in the final seven minutes ofthe game, with his other two points coming on a buzzer-beater to end the first half.After Duquesne tied the game at 46-46, Lawrence hit a three-pointer to give UBthe lead for good. The Dukes cut it back to one point but Lawrence hit a runningjumper to push the lead back to three. He then converted on 8-of-10 free throws inthe final three mintues of the game. Lawrence also scored the last six points for UB and eight ofthe team’s last 11 points to help secure UB’s first win of the season.UB HAS BEST SHOOTING NIGHT SINCE 1998In the Bulls’ season-opening loss to Niagara, UB shot a blistering 58.3% (28-of-48) from thefield, including 65.2% (15-of-23) in the first half, and shot 61.5% (8-of-13) from three-pointrange. Last year, the highest UB shot in any game was 52.0% in a loss at Akron. The 58.3% wasthe highest UB had shot from the field since Feb. 3, 1998, when UB shot 62.7% (37-of-59) in awin over Rochester.UB got its first recruit for next year with the signing of Turner Battle (Kennersville, NC/EastForsyth) during the NCAA fall signing period. Battle is a highly-touted point guard who averaged17 points, five rebounds and five assists per game as a junior while leading his team to a 15-8conference record and a conference championship.All-Star Sports Editor-in-Chief and college basketball recruiting expert Bob Gibbons had Battlelisted as one of the top 100 prospects for the Class of 2001. “I think this is the steal of themillennium,” said Gibbons. “Turner Battle could have played for an ACC school. He’s a truepoint guard who is a tremendous floor leader and an outstanding student-athlete.”ESPN and ABC college basketball analyst Dick Vitale was even impressed with UB’s signingof Battle. “(Buffalo) got a real steal in Turner Battle, who is a high school phenom from NorthCarolina.
