Stringing• Stringing will be outsourced to a local tennis facility. Mr. Russ Tringali fromthe Village Glen Tennis Center will pick up the racquets on campus andprovide stringing service <strong>at</strong> his facility. The racquets will be returned to theindividual teams <strong>at</strong> the championship site within the day. Mr. Tringali can becontacted <strong>at</strong> 716 – 912 – 3199• The r<strong>at</strong>es for stringing service will be as followso Price with personal string - $15 per racqueto Price without personal string - $32 per racquetRain VenueIf we are to encounter inclement we<strong>at</strong>her during the scheduled tournament, ourchampionships site will move indoors to the Village Glen Tennis Center and theMiller Tennis Center loc<strong>at</strong>ed in close proximity to our campus.Athletic Training Inform<strong>at</strong>ionThe Alumni Arena training room will remain open during all practices andcompetitions. The training room will be staffed by a certified <strong>at</strong>hletic trainer duringpractice sessions.There will be an on site trainers’ tent with the following available: a UB trainer,w<strong>at</strong>er coolers, ice, cups, and tre<strong>at</strong>ment tables.Our team physician and nurse practitioner will be on call during thechampionship. EMS will also be notified in advance th<strong>at</strong> we are hosting this eventand will be on call.Modalities including ice, whirlpools, hydro coll<strong>at</strong>or packs, ultrasound, and musclestimul<strong>at</strong>ion shall be made available to all certified <strong>at</strong>hletic trainers. <strong>Coach</strong>es Inform<strong>at</strong>ionHost HotelThe Holiday Inn Amherst has been selected as the host hotel for thischampionship. This hotel is loc<strong>at</strong>ed minutes away from the <strong>University</strong>. A specialr<strong>at</strong>e of $84/night has been arranged by our Athletic department for all visitingteams particip<strong>at</strong>ing in the Championship. The <strong>University</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>Buffalo</strong> has reserved50 rooms for the dur<strong>at</strong>ion of the tournament. These rooms will be blocked by theHotel until April 18 th 2008. Please inform the reserv<strong>at</strong>ions desk th<strong>at</strong> your squad ispart of the 2008 Tennis Championship. Stories willbe posted on the UB website <strong>at</strong> www.buffalobulls.com <strong>at</strong> the end of each day.Copier and FaxThere will be a copy machine and fax machine available for use in the AthleticCommunic<strong>at</strong>ions OfficePost game InterviewsFollowing each m<strong>at</strong>ch, there will be a 10 minute cooling off period as sanctionedby the NCAA. After th<strong>at</strong> period, interview can be conducted with coaches andrequested <strong>at</strong>hletes. Please contact the SID from the appropri<strong>at</strong>e school or PaulVecchio, UB Athletic Communic<strong>at</strong>ions, for interview requests.Phone LinesThere will be no phone lines available <strong>at</strong> the Tennis Complex. AwardsAll MAC TeamThe 12 member All MAC team will be coordin<strong>at</strong>ed by the MAC sports inform<strong>at</strong>iondepartment and selected by the coaches based on seasonal and championshipperformances. <strong>Coach</strong>es may nomin<strong>at</strong>e up to four players from their team. Thenomin<strong>at</strong>ions are due to the conference office by Monday prior to the MACChampionship. The MAC Media Rel<strong>at</strong>ions department will distribute ballots to thecoaches by 5 pm th<strong>at</strong> day.Each coach must vote for the top 12 players on the ballot, in rank order (1=best,12=last). <strong>Coach</strong>es may not vote for their own players. Ballots are due from eachcoach by noon on Wednesday of the Championship week. The top sixnomin<strong>at</strong>ions will be named the first team, with the remaining honorees beingnames to the second team. The All MAC team will be announced <strong>at</strong> the banqueton Thursday evening.All Tournament TeamA seven member all tournament team will be selected following the MACChampionship.Freshman of the Year, <strong>Coach</strong> of the Year, Top NewcomerThe freshman of the Year, Player of the Year and <strong>Coach</strong> of the Year will also beselected by the coaches in conjunction with the All MAC Team selection process.Based on nomin<strong>at</strong>ions received, the conference office will gener<strong>at</strong>e a ballot to bedistributed to the coaches. <strong>Coach</strong>es may nomin<strong>at</strong>e their players, but may notvote for their own players. The recipients of these awards will be announced <strong>at</strong>the banquet on Thursday evening.Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship AwardThe Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship award shall be selected by theparticipants prior to the championship. This award is presented to the women’stennis player who has displayed outstanding sportsmanship in MAC competition.The conference office shall prepare a ballot to be distributed to the coaches.Each coach shall cast one vote based on discussions with their players. Therecipient of this award shall be announced <strong>at</strong> the banquet on Thursday evening.
