Stringing• Stringing will be outsourced to a local tennis facility. Mr. Russ Tringali fromthe Village Glen Tennis Center will pick up the racquets on campus andprovide stringing service at his facility. The racquets will be returned to theindividual teams at the championship site within the day. Mr. Tringali can becontacted at 716 – 912 – 3199• The rates for stringing service will be as followso Price with personal string - $15 per racqueto Price without personal string - $32 per racquetRain VenueIf we are to encounter inclement weather during the scheduled tournament, ourchampionships site will move indoors to the Village Glen Tennis Center and theMiller Tennis Center located in close proximity to our campus.Athletic Training InformationThe Alumni Arena training room will remain open during all practices andcompetitions. The training room will be staffed by a certified athletic trainer duringpractice sessions.There will be an on site trainers’ tent with the following available: a UB trainer,water coolers, ice, cups, and treatment tables.Our team physician and nurse practitioner will be on call during thechampionship. EMS will also be notified in advance that we are hosting this eventand will be on call.Modalities including ice, whirlpools, hydro collator packs, ultrasound, and musclestimulation shall be made available to all certified athletic trainers. Teamstraveling without a certified athletic trainer are requested to provide a writtenrequest for treatment of a student athlete.Please contact Sue Rocque, Director for University Sport Medicine at 716 6453992 for questions.
Coaches InformationHost HotelThe Holiday Inn Amherst has been selected as the host hotel for thischampionship. This hotel is located minutes away from the University. A specialrate of $84/night has been arranged by our Athletic department for all visitingteams participating in the Championship. The University at Buffalo has reserved50 rooms for the duration of the tournament. These rooms will be blocked by theHotel until April 18 th 2008. Please inform the reservations desk that your squad ispart of the 2008 Tennis Championship. If you have any questions, please contactKaren at the hotel at 716-691-8181.A list of other hotels in the area has been attached to this guide.BanquetThere will be a banquet on Thursday April 24 th at 7 pm at the host hotel. Teamscan register starting at 6:30 pm. Please RSVP to our office by completing theattached form. Award winners will be announced at the banquetCoaches Meeting:The coaches meeting will be held on April 24 th immediately following thebanquet.Rules and EligibilityThe 2007-2008 Mid American Women’s Tennis Championship will follow theNCAA Championship format. All athletes must meet the NCAA and MidAmerican Conference eligibility standards in order to participate.Travel SquadLimited to 9 participantsAwardsAwards will be presented in accordance with the approved MAC Women’sTennis Championship schedule.Championship CommitteeThe Championship committee will consist of the Head Referee Lynda Henshaw,Head coach Tracy Mauntler from the University of Toledo, Head Coach KathyTwist from the University at Buffalo, Head Coach Penny Dean from BowlingGreen state University, the Championship Director Eric Cudeck, and Jeff Baconfrom the MAC.
