B U F F A L O B U L L S B A S K E T B A L LUB HAS GAME OF LOWSIn UB’s 64-49 loss at Northern Illinois (1/6/01), the Bulls set season lows in some statisticalcategories. Following are some of those season lows and the last time the Bulls had a lower totalfor the statisitcal category:• 49 points - lowset since a 78-46 loss at Canisius (11/27/99)• 13 FG Made - lowest since UB made 12 field goals in a 79-45 loss to Syracuse (12/10/96)• 31.7% FG Pct - lowest since shooting 25.4% against N. Illinois in an 83-52 loss (12/18/99)• 24 Total Rebounds - lowest since UB had 23 boards in an 86-71 loss at Ohio (1/17/00)On the opposite end of the spectrum, Buffalo had its best game this year at the line against theHuskies, hitting 80.0% (16-of-20) from the charity stripe.CLOSE... BUT NOT CLOSE ENOUGHDespite the 2-8 record for UB, the Bulls have been within striking distance in most of the gamesthis season. Taking away the 95-74 loss at 15th-ranked North Carolina, the other seven UB losseshave been by a combined total of 54 points (difference of 7.7 per game), including a two-pointovertime loss to Canisius and overtime losses at MAC favorite Marshall and at home to Akron. Both UB wins this season have been by five-point margins, 64-59 over Duquesne and 74-69 overAlcorn State. On the season, the Bulls have been outscored by a total of 65 points, which includesthe 21-point loss to the Tar Heels. The biggest disparity is in the first half, where UB has beenoutscored by 28 points (338-310), compared to a 15-point difference (369-354) in the second half. The Bulls have also been out scored by 22 points in overtime periods.IN SEARCH OF A ROAD WINBuffalo is still in search of its first MAC road victory as the Bulls enter their third season in theMid-American Conference. UB went 0-9 each of its first two years in the MAC. The closest theBulls have come to winning a MAC game on the road was a seven-point loss (75-68) at Kent Statein 1998-99. The only other MAC road game decided by ten points or less was last season in anine-point loss (77-68) at Bowling Green.UB is 0-3 in all road games this season, and has not won on an opponent’s home floor since an81-78 win at New Hampshire early last season.LONG RANGE RECORDSIn the overtime loss at Marshall, the Bulls were on fire from three-point range, specifcallysenior Damien Foster. As a team, UB hit 12-of-27 (.444) from three-point range and Foster hit 7-of-11 (.636) from downtown. Foster’s seven three-pointers put him in a tie for fourth place formost three’s in a game with Mike Martinho and Jaime Anderson, who did it twice. Martinho hasthe record with 10 three-pointers in a game and also holds second place with eight three’s on twooccassions. The 12 three-pointers by UB also ranks as the third-highest total in UB history formost three-pointers by a team. The record is 18 against Troy State in the 1995-96 season. Inaddition to Foster’s seven three-pointers, Louis Campbell was 3-for-5, Jason Robinson was 1-for-6 and Robert Brown hit his first three-pointer of the season, going 1-for-1 from behind the arcfor the Bulls’ 12 three-pointers.STAT NOTES:• Louis Campbell hit over 40% from the field in each of the last two seasons, hitting 41.9% lastyear and 44.0% in 1998-99.
