She was bornJune 14, 1934, in Coats to the late Howard Benjamin Barnes and Iris Jean (Langdon) Barnes.She was a 1952 graduate of Coats High School and a 1956 graduate of East CarolinaUniversity. Mrs. Valsame worked for many years as a teacher or librarian at various schools,including New London High School, Stanley County; Chapel Hill Junior High School, ChapelHill; Whiteville High School, Whiteville; Rohanen High School, Richmond County; VanceSixth Grade Center, Wake County; Washington Sixth Grade Center, Raleigh; and GarnerSenior High School, Garner. She was a member of Averasboro Road Baptist Church.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.Visitation will follow the services.
