ODP Final Technical ReportOperations ManualsODP produced 16 Operations Manuals, whichdescribe the components, assembly, deployment,and development of coring and downholemeasurement tools utilized by ODP DrillingServices (www.odplegacy.org/operations). Thesemanuals were primarily designed to be usedby ODP engineers and Ocean Drilling Limited(ODL) drilling staff during cruise operations.The final document, which covers boreholeinstallations including circulation obviationretrofit kits (CORKs), will be completed underthe NSF System Integration Contract in FY08.Bibliographic DatabasesIn 1998, the Joint Oceanographic Institutions,Inc. and ODP-TAMU collaborated with theAmerican Geological Institute (AGI) to compilea collection of DSDP- and ODP-relatedcitations called the Ocean Drilling CitationDatabase. AGI provided a subset of the AGIGeoRef database to ODP on a CD-ROM, andODP solicited the ocean drilling communityfor additional DSDP- and ODP-related citationsfor inclusion in GeoRef and the OceanDrilling Citation Database. The databasebecame available to the scientific communityonline through AGI in 2002. As of 2007, thedatabase contained over 22,500 citationsrelated to DSDP, ODP, and IODP research.Beginning in 1999, ODP-TAMU used theOcean Drilling Citation Database to produceannual studies that documented the numberand venue of publications generated fromeach leg. These data were also used to compilethe number of publications authored byscientists from various member countries andother information valuable to ODP members.Annual statistical studies were generated in1999, 2000, and 2002–2007.
