The colors have peaked, thelakes are turning over and we aregreeted with frost on the roofs andlawns in the early morning. It won’tbe long and the sound of snowmobileswill be heard in the Northwoods. It seems that we just had ourBoard Meeting, which the full Boardattended and then it was our GeneralMembership meeting. We had a greatshowing with 61 members and guestsattending. Joe and Jenny and theirstaff at the Bear’s Den did a greatjob. The food was great and servedin a timely manner. Thanks Joe &Jenny for a great job.Our next big event was our annualBrushing Day which was held on Saturday,October 16, 2010 I had intendedto show up at the GroomerBarn about 8:45 AM to get some photosof the workers. When I arrived Icouldn’t find a place to park. Ithought that the Prime Timers wereon another trip and had parked theirvehicles near the barn. It turned outthat all the vehicles were Bo-Boenmembers.We had more than 40 membersshow up for the Brushing Party. OurTrail Boss took control and had clubmembers assigned to trail sections, issued maps and equipment as necessary.I followed one crew out to getaction photos just off Highway 70 onthe Buffalo Lake Trail. They dida great job with Maggie Clemmensenpicking up everysmall stick along the way. Sheexplained that these smallsticks were a problem withher sled, getting stuckin her track.Continued on nextcolumn...I then went out to find otherworkers. I drove over 30 miles andcouldn’t find anyone. I drove andtraveled trails I’m sure no man hasgone before. I had to take a runningstart at some mud holes and figuredif I got stuck someone would findme in December. I then came upona red pick-up truck that had stoppedat the edge of a swamp. We turnedaround and they offered to let melead the way out. I deferred, thankingGod that I found another personalong these trails. I did get someaction shots of them removing debrisfrom the trail.I understand that Valerie Rybarczykgot stuck in the mud, up tothe top of her boot, along the edgeof a swamp and it took her husbandand several co-workers to haul herout. They were going to leave herand promised to bring her somepizza and a beverage later. At 6:30 pm our work crews weretreated to pizza and beverages atthe New Twilight Bar & Grill. StevePulec and his crew of Tara, Sheliaand Sharon put together a greattime and when we wrote a check topay the bill, Steve in turn wrote acheck back to the club as a donation.Steve said that he greatly appreciateswhat the club membershipdoes for the business communityduring the snowmobile season.
