President's Message
Well, it seems that autumn summer
has departed and the days and nights
are becoming cooler. Hopefully the
wind will die down as well and not
negate our brushing efforts several
weekends ago. George Langley tells us
that Musky and Walleye fishing will be
at its peak but what we really care
about is snow, snow and snow. We are
due for a great year and hopefully this
is going to be the one.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2011 fortysix
club members attended our general
monthly club meeting at Fibber’s
Restaurant. A fantastic meal was provided
by Rob & Kaye Manthei and
their staff. Kaye Schultz thanks everyone
for getting their reservations in
early. This makes her job a lot easier.
Our Trail Brushing took place on
Saturday, October 15, 2011. Twentyfive
members showed up at 9 am
dined on a spread of coffee & donuts
and set-off unto the trails. The brushing
work was completed by noon without
any serious work or injuries. A
follow up pizza dinner was held at
6:30 pm at the Twilight Bar & Grill for
all the workers. Free drinks were
served from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Thank
you Steve, Shelia and Tara for your
great support of our club and the excellent
repast.
Trail Boss, Jim Wendt, reported that
we are up and ready to let the snow
fly. The construction of the bridge
over the Rainbow Flowage is underway
and will be completed before December
1, 2011.
Roger Klein of the Apple Dumpling
Gang reports they have a dinner
meeting for those interested on Saturday,
November 5, 2011 at the Clearview
Supper Club. Anyone interested
should contact Roger Klein.
Anyone interested in serving with
the Trail Assistance should contact
Gary Schultz or Jim Rybarczyk. You
get a neat hat and vest and represent
the Club at all of our Club functions
and events as well as riding the trails
to provide assistance to those riders
lost or broken down.

Trail Boss Report
Things really seem to be coming together. Work on our new
bridge across the Rainbow Flowage is progressing on schedule.
All this points to an on-schedule completion around mid
November. Our club brushing day was another great success.
We had 25 members show up to work on our trails.
These folks worked hard and were rewarded with a great meal
at Twilight Bar & Grill. Our sincere THANKS to Steve Pulec for
the pizza. Steve, once again, showed his highest commitment
to our club with his support and encouragement. THANKS
STEVE!!!!
We have figured out the re-route of our corridor 15 north trail
around the Maplewood subdivision. Two private landowners
closed this trail due to irresponsible snowmobilers. I only wish
I would have had the opportunity to police the situation and
work with our trail assistance folks to keep an eye on that
area. I don't believe it was our Bo-Boen members. Please do
what you can to help police our trail system - we can't afford to
lose trails because of irresponsible acts on private property.
Everything else seems to be coming together as we get
closer to trial opening. Get that iron ready—it won't be long
now!

Notes from the Secretary
As I write this column, snowflakes have been
spotted around the area so I know snowmobiling
season is right around the corner.
Ski-doo has changed the way they want us to
sign up for the Ski-doo Million $ Club Support Program.
Please go online to http://en-us.ski-doo.com/
clubsupport2011/Home.aspx to complete the certificate.
They will then mail back to you a certificate to take to our
local Ski-doo dealers. Our club has the opportunity to generate
an additional $1,500! If you do not have internet and
would like to help the club with this fundraising opportunity,
please call me and I will enter your information for you.

The Apple Dumpling Kick-off Dinner for the 2011-2012 season is at Clearview Supper Club on Saturday, November 5 th . Cocktails will
be at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. The menu choices are 7 oz. Beef Filet, Parmesan Orange Roughy, or Chicken ala Oscar (chicken
with asparagus, crab & hollandaise sauce). All dinners are $17.00 including salad, rolls, dessert, coffee, taxes, and tip. To reserve
your dinner, please call Roger Klein at (715) 477-8570 by Monday, October 31 st . See you on the 5 th .
The Apple Dumplings are a group of men, mostly retired, but a few are still working, that snowmobile together every Wednesday
during the season. It is an informal group so there are no dues or duties. Each Wednesday they leave from the groomer barn at 9:00
am sharp. All you have to do is show up. Coffee and socializing is usually available starting at 8:15 am in the groomer barn. There is
a contribution for each ride to pay for that day’s refreshments and lunch. The group has a 3-day “overnighter” in January, a Kick-off
Dinner in November, a Potato Pancake Breakfast in February, and a Brunch at the end of the season. Please feel free to call Roger if
you have any questions about the group.

NON-RESIDENT
SNOWMOBILERS
Snowmobiles bearing Wisconsin registration are not required
to have a non-resident trail pass, even if the owner
is from out of state.
A two year Wisconsin registration is $30.00, compared to
two trail passes at $70.00 for two years. Almost two times
the money is generated with a two year registration as is
with two trail passes due to the formula used to transfer
gas tax revenue to the state snowmobile fund; the state
snowmobile fund is where the money comes from for
grooming and trail maintenance. By having Wisconsin registration
instead of a trail pass, you save $40.00 every two
years and contribute more money to the state fund.
It is perfectly legal to have Wisconsin registration on your
snowmobile in addition to your home state's registration.
You do not need a Wisconsin address; your home address
can be used for a Wisconsin registration. Once you have a
Wisconsin registration, it can be renewed online at the DNR
website. Wisconsin registration applications can be obtained
at any DNR office, at any dealer who sells snowmobiles
in Wisconsin, and at many dealers out of state near
Snowmobile Safety
Education Class
December 28 & 29, 2011
Beginning January 1, 2001, any person born on or after
January 1, 1985 and who has reached the age of 12, must
have completed and received a snowmobile safety certificate
in order to operate a snowmobile in Wisconsin. The
certificate must be carried while operating the snowmobile,
and displayed to a law enforcement officer upon demand.
Snowmobile Safety Education Classes are offered in the fall
and early winter, and should start appearing on the DNR’s
web site within the next month or so.
All students are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer
ID# as part of the criteria to graduate from any Recreational
Safety Class and provide that number to their instructor.
Students can obtain a DNR Customer ID# from St.
Germain Sport Marine during business hours or by calling 1-
888-936-7463 between 7 am to 10 pm. You can also visit a
Wisconsin DNR Service Center during their regular scheduled
hours. For additional DNR Service Center hours and locations
go to www.dnr.wi.gov and click on the “Contact US” tab
located at the top.
The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club’s Snowmobile Safety Education
Class will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, December
28 & 29, 2011. Anyone 11-1/2 years of age or older
is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education
certificate; however, the certificate does not become valid
until the child reaches 12 years of age. Pre-registration is
required by calling either Bev Dittmar at 715-479-4605 or
Ron Rhodes at 715-479-8007.
If you can donate a couple of hours of your time to help
with registration, cookies or bars, grading of tests or helping
outside with the machine test, please call Bev Dittmar at

Annual Club Raffle
Again this season we will be running
our club cash raffle. There will
be four raffle tickets sent with your
membership renewal form. The tickets are $5
each with a maximum of 2,000 tickets sold. First
prize is $2,500, second prize is $1,500, third prize
is $500 and fourth and fifth place prize is $250
each. The drawing will take place at our dinner
meeting on March 13, 2012.

Highway J Memorial Snowmobile Bridge
Construction has begun on the Highway J Memorial Snowmobile Bridge. The site has been cleared and
the pilings are beginning to be put in. We have been told the bridge will be ready to go when the snowmobile
season kicks off. Our thanks to Bev Dittmar who is a long standing Bo-Boen Club member and Board
Member who also sits on the Governor’s Council helped to facilitate this much needed bridge which will
now keep us connected without having to use private property to get over the Rainbow Flowage. We would
also like to thank the St. Germain Chamber who donated $3,000 to the bridge project which was our
share of the construction costs. Those monies were raised thru the Room Tax here in St. Germain.
