The following locations shall receive sealant in addition to locations shown on the Drawings:1. Where required to provide a positive barrier against passage of air and passage of moisture;2. Perimeter of all openings in exterior walls such as doors, windows, frames, louvers, grilles,etc.3. Joints at all locations where different materials are adjacent to each other;4. Divisions 22, 23, 26 for sealing of elec., mech., and plumbing penetrations thru rated walls.1.3 SUBMITTALSA. Product data:1. Materials list of items proposed to be provided under this Section;2. Manufacturer's specifications and other data needed to prove compliance with the specifiedrequirements;3. Manufacturer's recommended installation procedures.B. Colors:1. Submit samples of sealant materials for color selection;2. Colors for each sealant installation may be selected by the Architect from complete colorrange available from the specified manufacturers; however, provide custom colors wheredirected by the Architect.1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCEA. Provide joint sealers, joint fillers and other related materials that are compatible with one another andwith joint substrates under service and application conditions, as demonstrated by testing and fieldexperience.B. Provide manufacturer's standard chemically curing elastomeric sealant of base polymer indicated,complying with ASTM C 920 requirements.C. This contractor shall, prior to sealing of interior slabs on grade, familiarize himself with radon, radonentry routes, and proper workmanship requirements to prevent the migration of radon gas intointerior spaces. Deliver materials to the project site in manufacturer's original sealed containers with labels attachedshowing expiration period for use, pot life, curing time, and mixing instructions for multi-componentmaterials.B. Store in a dry space below 80 degrees Fahrenheit.C. Handle material according to manufacturer's printed instructions.PART 2 - PRODUCTS2.1 MATERIALS, GENERALA. Compatibility: Provide joint sealants, backings, and other related materials that are compatible withone another and with joint substrates under conditions of service and application, as demonstrated bysealant manufacturer, based on testing and field experience.2.2 MATERIALSA. Two-Part Urethane <strong>Sealant</strong>: For locations except where another type is specified, sealant materialshall conform to FS-TT-S-00227E, Type II, Class A and B ASTM C 920, Type M, Grade NS, Class25/50. Provide one of the following:1. "Sonolastic NP-2" by Sonneborn Building Products;2. "Dynatrol II" by Pecora Corporation;3. "Chem-Calk 505" by Bostik Construction Products;4. "Dymeric 240" by Tremco;B. Acrylic-Emulsion <strong>Sealant</strong>: For interior paintable joints in walls, manufacturer's standard, one-part,nonsag, acrylic, mildew-resistant, acrylic-emulsion sealant complying with ASTM C 834, Type OP,Grade NF: Provide one of the following:1. "Sonolac" by Sonneborn Building Products Co.;2. "AC-20+ Silicone" by Pecora Corp.;4. "Tremflex 834" by Tremco.C. Acoustical <strong>Sealant</strong>: For drywall wall systems indicated on the Drawings, installed at top and bottomedges of wall panels. Manufacturer's standard non-sag, paintable, non-staining latex sealantcomplying with ASTM C 834. Provide one of the following:1. Tremco Acoustical non-drying sealant;2. Pecora Corporation; AC-20 FTR.3. USG Corporation; SHEETROCK Acoustical <strong>Sealant</strong>.2.3 JOINT SEALANT BACKINGA. General: Provide sealant backings of material that are non-staining; are compatible with jointsubstrates, sealants, primers, and other joint fillers; and are approved for applications indicated bysealant manufacturer based on field experience and laboratory testing.B. Elastomeric Tubing Joint-Fillers: Butyl or EPDM tubing complying with ASTM D 1056, Nonabsorbentto water and gas, capable of remaining resilient at temperatures down to -26 degrees F (¬15 degrees C). Provide products with low compression set and of size and shape to provide asecondary seal, to control sealant depth and otherwise contribute to optimum sealant performance.Elastomeric tubing materials shall be of type or types recommended by sealant manufacturer.JOINT SEALANTS 07 92 00-2

Bond-Breaker Tape: Polyethylene tape or other plastic tape recommended by sealant manufacturerfor preventing sealant from adhering to rigid, inflexible joint-filler materials or joint surfaces atback of joint. Provide self-adhesive tape where applicable.2.4 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALSA. Primer: Material recommended by joint-sealant manufacturer where required for adhesion ofsealant to joint substrates indicated, as determined from preconstruction joint-sealant-substrate testsand field tests.B. Cleaners for Non-porous Surfaces: Chemical cleaners acceptable to manufacturers of sealants andsealant backing materials, free of oily residues or other substances capable of staining or harmingjoint substrates and adjacent non-porous surfaces in any way, and formulated to promote optimumadhesion of sealants to joint substrates.C. Masking Tape: Non-staining, non-absorbant material compatible with joint sealants and surfacesadjacent to joints.PART 3 - EXECUTION3.1 PREPARATIONA. Joints and spaces which are to be sealed shall be clean, dry, and free of dust, loose mortar and other foreignmaterials.B. Install joint fillers and apply primer or bond breakers as may be required for the specific installation.3.2 APPLICATIONA. General: Comply with joint sealer manufacturer's printed installation instructions applicable toproducts and applications indicated.1. Elastomeric <strong>Sealant</strong> Installation Standard: Comply with ASTM C 962;2. Latex <strong>Sealant</strong> Installation Standard: Comply with ASTM C 790;B. Sealing of all cracks in interior slabs on grade shall be included in the work of this Section.C. Apply sealant with a gun, with proper size nozzles. Cracks smaller than 1/8 inch shall be sealedusing a putty knife or other appropriate tool to sufficiently seal the crack. Use sufficient pressure tofill all voids and joints solid to the backup material.D. Surface of sealant shall be a full smooth bead, free of ridges, wrinkles, sags, air pockets andimbedded impurities.E. After all joints have been completely filled they shall be neatly tooled to eliminate air pockets orvoids, and to provide a smooth, neat appearing finish.F. Immediately clean adjacent materials which have been soiled; leave work in a neat, clean condition.G. Where urethane and silicone sealants abut, comply with manufacturer's recommended installationprocedures so as to prevent adverse reactions.END OF SECTION 07 90 00JOINT SEALANTS 07 92 00-3
