Mr. Chau, holds a Master of Business in Operations Management, from University of Western Sydney, Australia, is in charge of all operational, strategic,<br />

planning and business aspects of <strong>Procurement</strong> for the Trung Nguyen Group.<br />

Trung Nguyên is a Vietnam-based business group involved in the production, processing and distribution of coffee. Trung Nguyên is a major domestic<br />

coffee brand within Vietnam, and exports its products to 25 countries, including major <strong>Asia</strong>n markets such as Japan and Singapore.<br />

It is most noted for its Trung Nguyên brand of coffee products; sub-brands include Creative Coffee,Weasel kopi luwak and Legendee simulated kopi<br />

luwak coffee, Passiona low-caffeine coffee, andG7 instant coffee, along with the Tra Tien tea brand.<br />

The group, established in 1996 in Buon Ma Thuot, Dak Lak Province, is composed of six members: Trung Nguyen Corporation JSC, Trung Nguyen<br />

Instant Coffee Company JSC, Trung Nguyen Coffee LLC, G7 Commercial Services Company, Nam Viet Media Retail Company, and Vietnam Global<br />

Case Study: e-procurement programmes<br />

Public <strong>Procurement</strong> Service (PPS) is the central procurement agency of the Korean government providing goods, services, public works, and information<br />

in the best possible manner to enable public organizations to conduct their business and thereby best serve the citizen.<br />

PPS focus on both domestic and foreign procurement and has an annual volume of USD 12 billion in spend. PPS also handles contracts for the government’s<br />

major construction projects valued at USD 17 billion.<br />

Other services of PPS will be to stockpile and supply raw materials, coordinate and audit the government, handles property related<br />

matters on behalf of the government and most importantly: Manage and operate KONEPS – Korea ON-line E-procurement System.<br />

Dr Kang is the Director of International Relations, Public <strong>Procurement</strong> Service, Korea, is a Permanent Member with Korean Association of Shipping Studies,<br />

a Director with Korean Society for International Trade Studies and he was the Chairman, Government <strong>Procurement</strong> Experts’ Group (GPEG), APEC till 2010. Previously<br />

he was, Corporate Planning and Coordination Office, Hyundai Business Group, Coordinator, Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee, and Deputy Director, International<br />

Commodity Bureau, Public <strong>Procurement</strong> Service.<br />

He graduated from Chonnam National University, graduated with MA in Literature from Hankook University of Foreign Studies, graduated with MA in International<br />

Economics, from Sungkyunkwan University and has a Ph. D. in Business Administration from Chungnam National University.<br />

Jay Kim is currently Direct <strong>Procurement</strong> Manager, ASEAN and Seed Grower <strong>Procurement</strong> for Syngenta <strong>Asia</strong> Pacific Pte.Ltd, with the responsibility for<br />

sourcing strategy of chemical, packaging materials and tolling for Syngenta formulation production for ASEAN territory.<br />

As per request of the company’s strategic reformation to meet the food crisis challenges, he extend his accountability to develop and deploy the<br />

sourcing strategy for Seed for APAC region.<br />

Jay has experiences in almost whole range of supply chain functions such as planning, Import & export customs, planning, warehouse and distribution in<br />

Korea since he started his career with JunJin Putzmeister since he graduated Chungbuk national university in 1993.<br />

Prior to joining Syngenta Jay had worked for another Swiss base company Hoffman La Roche as ERP(SAP) consultant with the responsibility for the system implementation<br />

and maintenance projects in Australia and Singapore.<br />

Anis Tabka, Vice President - Supply Chain Management, Emirates Integrates Telecommunications Company (du), UAE<br />

Anis Tabka is a Tunisian American with over 15 years of Telecommunications experience both on the Service provider (<strong>Procurement</strong> and Supply Chain)<br />

and Telecommunications equipment vendor (Commercial for Global operators). Anis has accumulated wide experience working in very diverse<br />

environments from very large and established Fortune 500 companies like AT&T and Siemens in USA and Germany to start-ups in the Middle East (UAE) He<br />

has spent a large portion of his career working in Siemens Global Accounts Management handling major US Telcos. He has also held Financial Controlling<br />

positions with R&D and production.<br />

du has been launched in 2007 as the 2nd Telecommunications service provider to compete against the incumbent provider Etisalat in a market which<br />

is highly penetrated (+140%).<br />

Despite the high launch challenges faced by du (difficulty in obtaining new tower sites, reluctance of the competition to share sites, weak<br />

Telecommunications regulations, and huge staff diversity due to nature of labor market and high expectations from customers), du was able to launch its services and<br />

gradually gain market share from the incumbent.
